Exclusive: “How Pastor Tunde Bakare Made Unverified Claims on APC, PDP Spending Election”-IPC Report By Emmanuel Udom

International Press Centre, IPC, Lagos-Nigeria in one of its many reports on elections in the country exposed how Tunde Bakare, a pastor and founder of Latter Day Assembly Church, Ogba, Lagos, made porous and unverified claims on elections spending by the two top political parties in Nigeria.

The exposure is contained on the Reporting Elections and Democratic Accountability Resource Manuel, issued by Lanra Arogundade, director of IPC, which was coordinated by Professor Nosa Owems-Ibie, of the school of mass communication, Caleb University, Imota, Lagos.

According to the manual chapter 6 sub-titled: Ascertaining the Truth, Bakare told his members and by extension the entire world. March 2018,” that for 16 years, PDP borrowed N6trillion, while APC bowered N11trillion in three years. But, Yinka Ogunnubi, a public analyst, punctured the claims of Bakare after painstaking investigations using date obtained from the debt management website and the world, as well as africacheck. He discovered that the claims of the latter day pastor was not backed up with evidences that verified and acceptable in a court of competent jurisdiction.
