In December, last year, 2024, Primemart superstores, one of the many retail outlets operating in various parts of the country, opened for business at Ifo, local government area of Ogun state.
The grand opening event was well attended by residents, government officials, religious leaders, journalists, security agents and others within and outside Ifo and its environs.
However, investigations conducted by politicogazette in the last few months, showered that Primemart has been overwhelmed by the encouragement and patronage it received from customers, both far and near since it began business.
Daily, Mondays to Sunday, 9 am to 10 pm, people storm the outlet, located at Primemart bus stop, along the popular and ever busy Lagos-Abeokuta expressway in Ifo, Ogun state to buy one item or the other.
However, our investigations further revealed that customers, especially petty traders from Ifo market, Arigabjo market, Ewekoro and other areas seem to buy more of the various brands of Primemart bread, which are sold between N1300 to N1700 per piece.
Any insider sources told politicogazette that the management of the supermarket are indeed overwhelmed and encourage by the high patronage of their various products, the beads inclusive.
But, it was further gathered that at a point, the management of the outlet was compelled to open Wema Bank account at Ifo for customers to pay their money into, when the 17 payment points could not cope.
Our editor, who shopped at the outlet January 1, with his family observed that his daughter stayed at the payment line for about 35 minutes before it was her turn to make payment through pos transfer, using her ATM.
Most of the traders, who spoke off record praised the primemart bread. Some however complained that over time, the size of the bread have been reduced, through the quality remains the same.
Primemart should ensure that when traders pay for a certain quantity of its bread, the same quantity should be supplied as at when due to avoid spoilage, a bread seller at Ifo market lamented.
However, it was further observed that the management of the outlet has bought and branded a vehicle to facilitate easy movement of the bread and other items to the various buyers and different locations.
The branded vehicle was spotted Wednesday loaded the various sizes of bread in preparation for delivery to customers.
The manager of Ifo branch of the outlet was said to be busy when our editor tried to reach her for official comment on the reason for the unique selling point of the various sizes of bread produce by the outlet.
