Sancta Maria Catholic College, SMCC, Alaja in Ifo area of Ogun State, has unveiled 10-core values for old and new students in the college.
The college, it is noted under the Diocese of Abeokuta outlined some of the values as: faith-centered learning, respect and diversity, academic excellence, compassionate leadership, and holistic development of new and old students in the school. Other values are: collaborative community, integrity and character, lifelong learning, stewardship and responsibility, and skill acquisition, among others.
Our correspondent observed that the college is the educational arm of St Mary’s Catholic Church that offers qualitative system of education to students regardless of their religious stands. Rev Fr. Anthony Otegbola, Parish Priest of the Church students of the college have the responsibility to submit daily to the guidance of the holy spirit who inspires the teachers to direct the learners through the curriculum to be instrument of peace and growth in the society. The views of the Fr were also further explained by Rev Sister Lilian, Principal of the college, who assured that the vision of the college is to ensure that each student is grounded in the gospel values and hope in order to equip their unique talents. The ultimate aim is ensure that the students, as our future leaders are groomed to become leaders with sound academic excellence, with spiritual enrichment and positive outlook on the future.
It was further noted that the entrance examination for JSS 1 students 2025/2026 session, is on-going, even as the examination for JSS 2 new entrance is planned to hold August 2025.
